Wildlife Photo Challenge Day 1 (A)

Day 1A – Good Morning. This is day one of my photo challenge requested by my friend Don Bromberg. A bunch of photographers from all over the planet are participating and it will be easy for you to participate too. This is a facebook event but I like to start these posts from my blog….

Nature, the best sculpture

I was at a bird sanctuary in Key Largo recently. The facilities are very rustic and offers a nice boardwalk leading from the parking area out to the water to the west. Along the path are aviaries housing injured or rehabbed birds in large screened areas. As we were walking along the path we came…

Meet Mugsy, a working Mule

Mid January Jo, my wife, and I attended the annual Evans-71 high school bonfire at the ranch of one of Jo’s classmates in Howey-in-the- Hills, FL. The bonfire has become an annual event so that the alumni of Evans High School, Orlando, can have a good excuse to get together to burn some firewood, eat delicious food, talk about guns, and enjoy catching up with each other. Liz, a schoolmate, and husband own the ranch where the bonfire is hosted.

St. Johns River, peaceful waters around Hontoon Island

(Clicking the photos will enlarge them) Recently Jo, my wife, and I celebrated our 42nd wedding anniversary. And, like most years, we decided to get-away for at least a long weekend. This year instead of heading to the log cabin in the Smokey mountains or to our favorite B&B in St. Augustine, we decided to do something different….

Time-Lapse Technique

In 2012 I purchased a new flash for my SX1 camera. The flash was the best one Canon made at the time so it was a bit pricey but I wanted the brightest flash on the market to help me fill-in the Florida sun so I decided to invest in my system and I purchased a Canon…

Fairchild Tropical Botanical Gardens

On Saturday April 18th Jo and I, along with Lulu from our bird group, visited Fairchild Gardens in Coral Gables Florida. We originally decided to visit the gardens as part of a larger bird club outing but after an illness with the coordinator the expected attendance was reduced to only a couple of people. Those…

Wildlife ART

Many of my friends on Facebook groups and in real life, not that FB isn’t real life, have encouraged me to show more of my wildlife pictures via the blog so people who are not connected through FB can enjoy the pictures too. Thank all of you who have requested this. With that in mind, I’m going…

Bears of Summer

Each time I venture into the Smokey Mountains I anticipate seeing and photographing bears, black bears to be specific. I say that because some people think there are other types of bears in the Smokeys, there aren’t, only black bears, and plenty of them spread out over the mountain range. If you are looking to…

Owls of Vista View Park

This birding season, early 2014, the Burrowing Owl sightings and photographs have been spectacular! One of the main Owl locations is Vista View park in southwest Broward County, Florida. In early May I had an opportunity to visit Vista View park, a Broward County park, reclaimed dump, to see and photograph one of the smallest…

Buhl Mansion – a fairy tale castle

Every once in a while, a photographer receives a choice assignment in a super venue. In June 2014 I was invited to participate as the Photographer for a family member whose wedding was being held in an elite and beautiful venue, the Buhl Mansion in Sharon, Pennsylvania. Sharon is located about an hour north of…

Florida Lighthouses

I love lighthouses and Florida has some of the best and most historical houses in Northern America. In fact we have one of the tallest standing just south of Daytona Beach, Florida on the north side of Ponce de Leon Inlet. When I took this shot we were staying in Daytona for a school conference…

Snake, the other white meat.

He’s a real snake in the grass. I met this slithering reptile face to face while laying on a grassy bank photographing wetland birds at Viera Wetlands in Melbourne Florida. It’s always very exciting meeting up with a snake when you have a good camera with a long lense. Actually its more exciting with a…

Spring is here

Spring is here and the wildlife is flourishing in South Florida. The ducks are beautiful and full of spring fever. The great blue herons are in full mating colors and displaying mating behaviors. Anhinga males are keeping themselves beautiful for their mates. The blue winged teals are preparing for the season. Great white egrets are…

RELAX Videos

I produced many TV shows, programs and videos for a very long time, since I was in my early 20’s. It’s been a passion and has enabled me to have a creative outlet for my photography and videography  since I left high school. Many of you know my background but for those who don’t you can catch…

The Great Blue Heron

The Great Blue Heron is a beautiful and awe striking avian species. Here is South Florida the GBH, as they are commonly known, flourish from waterside to seaside, from lake to canal. Wherever there is water, fresh or salt, you have a great chance of seeing a GBH, especially at nesting time. This first shot…
