Wildlife Photo Challenge Day 2-B

This is day two of my photo challenge requested by my friend Don Bromberg. A bunch of photographers from all over the planet are participating and it will be easy for you to participate too.

Participation… Participation… Choose 7 of your favorite photos and share one each day for 7 days on your timeline to your friends and the world. I challenge ALL my photographic friends to this challenge.

As you can probably tell by now, I love great herons. They are absolutely beautiful, sometimes they remind me of what we think of as angels. Even though they are aggressive carnivores and will eat about anything that wiggles they are most graceful and beautiful.

Whitey is a regular at the Hontoon Island boat docks, he’s 2nd generation great white egret who lives close to the docks and frequently is seen enjoying the company of humans as he sits on their lunch table waiting for a hand-out or a kind word. I just think he like to be around people, some special animals are like that. This image was hand painted to preserve the low-key background which highlights Whitey’s beautiful color as seen as the sun sets in the late afternoon. He’s almost golden with warm tones and the canvas texture offers a subtle but welcome addition to the classical look of the image.

All shots in this series may be reviewed on my blog following the 7 days.
