On Saturday April 18th Jo and I, along with Lulu from our bird group, visited Fairchild Gardens in Coral Gables Florida. We originally decided to visit the gardens as part of a larger bird club outing but after an illness with the coordinator the expected attendance was reduced to only a couple of people.
Those of you who know Jo and I, we tend to have a good time whether we’re alone or with people. Needless to say, we had a great time experiencing this beautiful garden with Lulu.
Arriving just before 10AM we found each other like this….
Me…. “Lulu, where are you?”. DING
Lulu, “I just arrived in the parking lot”.. DING
Me, “Us too!” DING
As I was “sending” the conversation into Facebook I kept hearing the familiar “DING!” as I hit send. I knew it wasn’t my phone, it was in my hand. I knew it wasn’t Jo’s because she didn’t bring her Facebook device. The DING kept sounding a second after I hit send. Hmmmmmm, Why was I hearing a “DING” every time I hit the send button as I chatted to Lulu?
It dawned on me…. I’M HEARING LULU’S Facebook ding from somewhere in the parking lot!!!! Then I noticed that the car that pulled in a few seconds before us had the front door open and the “DING” was coming from that vehicle. It was Lulu!!!! We had pulled in together, right next to each other! What a coincidence! That was the beginning of a super day that didn’t end until the garden closed and we were asked to leave at 5:00.
Here are but a few of the wonderful images I captured of the amazing Chihuly glass that is on show at Fairchild through May 31.
One of my favorite and most colorful pieces is “Day’s End” a permanent piece in the Garden. It is beautifully placed and watched over by a pool of Goldfish.
Of course there are many more incredible pieces on display until the end of May. If you have time this place is wonderful, especially with the glass.
One last shot of the glass.
Glass isn’t the only attraction at the gardens, there is a fantastic garden!
