Spoonbill Juvenile & Wood Stork, originally uploaded by QuakerVille.
For several years I looked and looked for these Roseate Spoonbills. This year I finally had a chance to see and photograph one up close and personal for about an hour at Green Cay in Palm Beach, FL. Since that time I’ve been fortunate enough to spot and photograph even more. This photo captured at the Alligator Farm in St. Augustine, FL 2010 not only captures the beautiful pink color of the Roseate but the contrasting saturated blue sky and as an extra thrill, sitting right next to this juvenile Roseate is a juvenile Wood Stork. It’s too bad that the Wood Stork isn’t facing the right way but I’m still excited to capture a shot of both of them together right overhead.
