I really love to take pictures of Great Blue Herons and have hundreds if not thousands of pictures showing GBH’s doing all kinds of normal things. Photographer Donnie Shackelford captured this action in one of my all time favorite wetland areas, Wakodahatchee in Palm Beach. Check out the snake. It’s wrapped around this bird’s beak hissing at him. WoW! That’s about all I can say!
Over the years I’ve seen GBHs capture and eat all sizes and kinds of snakes but this photo is absolutely wonderful.

I’ve seen GBHs grab snakes out of rice fields and fly off with them, but never have seen one with a snake wrapped around the beak.
That is a fantastic shot!
